Questions people ask
Does it drain the phone battery?
No. The phone watches cheap system geofences and turns on precise GPS for a few minutes only when someone crosses one. In our testing that's under 3% of battery across an eight-hour shift.
Can managers track where people go?
No. ClockLap checks location near work and during shifts. It records where each clock-in and clock-out happened, not a trail of someone's day. Workers can see what's collected in the app.
What if there's no signal inside the building?
Punches are saved on the phone with the time they happened and sync when the signal returns. Nothing is lost and nothing is double-counted.
What about people without a smartphone?
Put a tablet at the entrance in kiosk mode. People clock in with a PIN. Managers can also add or fix shifts from the console.
Can we sell ClockLap to our own customers?
Yes. Agencies and payroll providers run many client workspaces from one platform console, each with its own branding, region and plan.
Are there paid upgrades or add-ons?
No. Every feature is in the $1 and $2 prices: geofences at unlimited sites, overtime rules, approvals, every report, payroll exports, kiosks, single sign-on, the API and webhooks, and AI assistant access. There are no setup fees, per-location fees, contracts or paid support plans. The one thing we quote separately, only if you ask for it, is publishing the app under your own name in the App Store and Google Play.
How does billing work?
Each month you pay $1 for every staff member and $2 for every manager or admin who was active that month. We count the most people active on any day, so adding someone for a week costs the same as keeping them all month. Invited and archived people are free. US workspaces pay in USD, Canadian workspaces in CAD.
Can people sign in with their work account?
Yes. Connect Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Google Workspace, Okta, AWS IAM Identity Center, OneLogin, JumpCloud, Ping, Auth0, Keycloak, AD FS or any other OpenID Connect or SAML 2.0 provider. Turn on user sync (SCIM) and people are added, updated and removed automatically, with roles that follow their groups. People can also continue with Google, Microsoft or Apple. All included in the $1 and $2 prices.
